“Future Directions of Education Policy”

Call for Papers

March 12-13, 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE

 

Since the beginning of the Digital Age the world has been challenged to reform education systems in a manner that is relevant to 21st century learners and societal needs.  Academic, researchers and policy makers share a common passion to see education as a key enabler for economic competiveness, human capital development and improved governance. Accountability from private and public sector stakeholders in the education sector it at an all-time high and it is imperative to create a forum that encourages open discussion, high quality scholarship and lively debates on the issues that will have specific impact on the MENA region and the wider global context in the future. In this call for papers, the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government invites you to be part of the ongoing discourse on the “Future Directions of Education Policy” at the Public Policy Forum 2017. The forum will give voice to decision makers, practitioners, researchers, academics, policy makers and students from various dimensions of the education sector with inter- disciplinary interests so that pathways to future education policies and practices can evolve.

 

Themes

MBRSG Public Policy Forum 2017 invites scholars and experts to submit policy papers, conceptual or empirical research papers, and posters, on any of the topics listed below. All papers submitted for presentation at the conference and for publication in the conference proceedings will undergo a double blind peer review process. The conference theme includes, but are not confined to the following topics:

The Development of Public Private Partnerships in Education: papers focusing on role of the private and public sector in education, impact of education on private and public sector outcomes, equity in school funding

Celebrating Innovations in Education: papers focusing on instructional design to increase student achievement, measurement of innovation ion the education sector, innovative education governance models

Strategic Policy -making for Human Capital Development: papers focusing on STEM education, skills gap, capacity building, curriculum design, ROI on investment in education, importance of early childhood provisions, resource allocation and management in education

Effective Approaches for Teacher Training and Professional Development: papers focusing on the future trends in teacher training and development, policies governing professional development, remuneration in education, supply of teachers, quality of pre service and in-service teacher training and professional development.

Global Standards of Excellence: papers focusing on the quality assurance of branch campuses, internationalization of education, cross border education, governance models to enhance excellence in education, case studies on best practices in education standards.

The Role of Civic Education:  papers focusing on social and emotional intelligence, education and happiness, role of families in education, giving voice to learners, values education.

Embracing a vision for Smart Education:  papers focusing on policies governing use of technology in the classroom, smart education framework, e-learning, mobile learning.

Dimensions of Education Reform: papers focusing on centralization and decentralization in education, policy review approaches, regulatory framework for reforms, drivers of education reform, pedagogical reforms, change management in education.

 

Important Dates

Abstract submission dates:  October 15 – November 15, 2016

Full paper and poster submission date: January 10, 2017

Announcement of accepted papers:  January 30, 2017

Early bird registration for attendees: December 31, 2016

Final date for conference registration for presenters:  February 15, 2017

 

Guidelines for submission

Al submissions for concurrent session presenters or poster presentations should be made electronically via the Easychair link provided below and should include the following information:

Title of the paper, poster or workshop

Abstract of no more than 300 word (to be published on the conference website if accepted)

Objective and motivation for the session

Name, affiliation and contact details (mailing address, email, phone number)

A 150 words biography (to be published in the conference proceeding and the website)

Please note

All full paper and poster submissions are eligible for awards in three categories: Best paper, Best Poster and Best Case Study. Winners will be determined by a panel of independent judges and awards will be presented at the gala dinner on day 2 of the conference.

·        Only full papers or posters will be considered for presentations in the concurrent sessions

·        Presenters are responsible for covering the cost of their registration, travel and accommodation

·        Participation as a presenter is reserved only for fully registered speakers
