International Relations Conference 2016 India and the Indian Ocean: Sustainability, Security and Development Date: 18-19 December 2016 Venue: Lavale, Pune, India Under the aegis of the Symbiosis International University (SIU), with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) will be organising the 4th International Relations Conference (IRC) on 18- 19 December 2016 titled 'India and the Indian Ocean: Sustainability, Security and Development' at the University's Lavale campus in Pune, India. The Hon'ble Minister of State for External Affairs Shri. M.J. Akbar will be Chief Guest and will inaugurate the conference on 18 December 2016. The conference will bring together policy-makers, bureaucrats, corporate leaders, members of academia and civil society organisations (CSOs) from member countries and dialogue partners of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to deliberate upon the multifarious aspects of India's evolving relationship with countries of the Indian Ocean region vis-à-vis trade and investments, security and defence, blue economy and India's civilizational and cultural linkages. Through such endeavours, SSIS aims to draw key recommendations which could serve as basis for developing research agendas that could contribute to shape the evolving contours of India's foreign policy for this region.
