CALL FOR PAPERS
JIBS Paper Development Workshop
Academy of International Business, Western Europe Chapter

EIBA 2016 | Vienna,
Friday, 2 December 2016

Submission deadline: 2 September 2016
________________________________________

The 2016 AIB-WE Chapter Journal of International Business Studies Paper Development Workshop (JIBS-PDW) will be held at the 42nd EIBA Annual Conference (EIBA 2016) taking place in Vienna, Austria, 2-4 December 2016, as part of the pre-conference programme on Friday, 2 December 2016.

The PDW is the most extensive of the various JIBS outreach activities conducted by the JIBS editorial team. Organized by José Pla-Barber (AIB-WE Chapter Chair) and Ulf Andersson (JIBS Area Editor), the 2016 JIBS-PDW involves JIBS editors, many experienced scholars, and editorial board members.

The purpose of the JIBS-PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their current research projects in international business studies. While we hope that many of these papers will be eventually submitted to JIBS, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve the quality of IB research and bring new scholars into the IB field. We invite original papers from junior authors or junior faculty members who have not previously published in JIBS. In particular, we hope to attract papers from scholars (1) who are located in universities in emerging economies or in universities that offer limited support for international business research, and/or (2) who are trained in disciplines less commonly associated with the field (e.g., human geography, political science, ethnography, or economic history) but interested in conducting international business research.

The JIBS-PDW is structured to provide feedback to authors with research papers, and to researchers who are designing empirical studies on International Business topics. PDW participants will receive feedback on their work from JIBS editors, members of the Consulting Editors Board (CEB), Editorial Review Board (ERB), and other experienced scholars. The 2016 programme will start with an introductory session led by JIBS Area Editor, Ulf Andersson. The participants will then be divided into groups. Authors will be paired with CEB, ERB, and guest editors, for two-on-two discussions where the editors will provide feedback to the authors on improving their papers.

The JIBS-PDW will be held between 08:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Friday 2 December 2016 at the conference venue (Vienna University of Business and Economics), as part of the pre-conference activities taking place before the formal start of the EIBA 2016 conference that same afternoon. Participants should therefore plan to arrive in Vienna the evening before.

Prospective participants in the JIBS-PDW are invited to submit their paper manuscripts to José Pla-Barber ([log in to unmask]) by Friday 2 September 2016. Please note that each applicant can make one submission only and may also have submitted another (or the same) version of the paper for presentation at the EIBA 2016 Conference. All authors should indicate their names and affiliations on the front page of the manuscript. Papers must be less than 10,000 words in length, and follow the JIBS Style Guide (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jibs/style_guide.html).

Participation at the 2016 JIBS-PDW will be limited to 10 papers. Participants will be accepted based on the quality of their submitted work and will be notified about the acceptance of their submissions by no later than 30 September 2016. Participants will be required to confirm their participation by 14 October 2016, and they will then be invited to submit a revised manuscript (i.e., the version to be discussed at the JIBS-PDW) by 18 November 2016.

Preference will be given to participants who have not attended any JIBS-PDWs in the past. Manuscript authors who have applied in the past but were not accepted to the PDW should make sure that they submit a different paper to this year’s JIBS-PDW.

Please address any questions to: José Pla-Barber, AIB-WE Chapter Chair ([log in to unmask]).

NOTE: All participants must register for the EIBA 2016 Conference (www.eiba2016.org) before they confirm their attendance at the JIBS-PDW.
