Responsibilities

As Assistant Professor of Strategic Management, you will be an internationally active researcher in the field of Strategic Management and International Business. You should have a demonstrated ability to publish your research in high-quality peer-reviewed scholarly journals and also have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. You will teach courses in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Business Administration and the Master’s specialization in Strategic Management and International Management. You will provide high-quality courses covering general management topics and quantitative research methods as well as specific courses on Strategic Management and International Business. You will be expected to supervise PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s students working on their theses and to contribute to the development of ongoing research that fits within the scope of our research institute. As an active researcher, you will be expected to obtain funding from governmental, European and/or private institutions, and to publish regularly in leading international academic journals. Above all we are seeking a highly motivated, engaging and collaborative candidate to further strengthen our department.

Members of the Strategic Management department have published in high-impact journals, e.g. Academy of Management Journal, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Law and Economics, Organization Studies, Research Policy.

Work environment

The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) of Radboud University is an academic centre of research and higher education that focuses on institutional and managerial issues concerning complex organizations in both the public and private domain. It has seven disciplines: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics and Business Economics, Social and Political Sciences of the Environment, Human Geography, and Spatial Planning. The NSM strives for a multidisciplinary approach whenever possible. The NSM employs 260 FTE of whom 75% are academics. The NSM has about 3,300 students.
 
The Department of Business Administration consists of five chairs: Strategic Management, Organizational Design & Development, Marketing, Methods, and Strategic Human Resource Management. The department is responsible for the BSc programme in Business Administration (including a full track in English) as well as seven specializations within the MSc programme in Business Administration (all in English). Research and teaching are based on the Nijmegen approach to Business Administration, characterized by a broad social science orientation, integrative and stakeholder management approach and focus on interventions. The teaching methods combine theoretical and practical approaches.

What we expect from you

·         a PhD degree in Business Administration or a related discipline;

·         proven qualities in contributing to the international academic discussion in the field of Strategic Management and International Business, evidenced by a publication record in internationally recognized high-quality academic journals;

·         demonstrable thorough knowledge of recent theoretical and empirical developments in the field of Strategic Management and International Business;

·         an excellent record in academic teaching in the field of Business Administration and proven teaching skills;

·         proven ability to collaborate with and inspire a team of professionals;

·         a team player with good communication skills;

·         some experience with attracting research funding from research councils and other external parties;

·         international experience and an international network;

·         excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

What we have to offer

·         employment: 0,8 - 1,0 fte;

·         in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;

·         the maximum gross monthly salary will be between €3,400 and €5,288 on a full-time basis, depending on qualifications and experience (salary scale 11 or 12);

·         duration of the contract: fixed-term contract for 4 years with evaluation after 2 years;

·         possibility of extension and permanent contract depending on your performance and the funds available to the Faculty;
