The Exploratorium Teacher Institute, a nationally recognized teacher professional development program designed to promote inquiry-based teaching and learning in middle and high school science classrooms, is hiring a science educator/education researcher.

The Science Educator/Education Researcher position is designed for a researcher and practitioner interested in working in an informal education setting to research and provide teacher professional development. This position is engaged as core staff of TI, involved in all aspects of planning, thinking, and implementation of TI programs. Specific responsibilities include organizing and leading Saturday workshops, summer institutes, and online programs. The Science Educator/Education Researcher will also conduct research to better understand and document the key dimensions of TI’s professional development programs. The products of this research are expected to include peer-reviewed publications as well as constructive input for TI staff to improve program design and delivery. The position requires a proactive, highly organized person with excellent science teaching, research, and writing skills. The Science Educator/Education Researcher is embedded in the TI team of PhD scientists and veteran teachers and reports to the Director of the Teacher Institute. This position may be placed as a senior-level (Teacher III) position, depending on experience.
