La Salle University will host the Second Congress of International Political Economy that will take place in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 26th and 27th. The congress aims to promote the discussion
of connections between economics and politics that is relevant for Latin American and Caribbean economies. There will be a dedicated discussant for each panel, as well as open floor discussion.
Rita Giacalone, from Universidad de Los Andes – Venezuela, José Luis Ruiz from Universidad de Chile – Chile and Jorge Carneiro from PUC-Rio – Brazil will be delivering keynote presentations.
We are inviting submissions of papers to be considered for presentation at the Congress. The accepted contributions are expected to be relevant for understanding the International Political
Economy problems of Latin America and Caribbean countries. Papers addressing issues in other regions will be considered, when those issues are deemed pertinent to the Latin American context.
The focus of the meeting will be on the connection between business, economics and political institutions in the following subjects:
• Regional Integration and development.
• International Financial Markets.
• Multilatinas
Abstracts, written in English or Spanish, must be submitted no later than June 29th and should not exceed 500 words; selected abstracts will be notified by July 8th. Full papers, written in English or
Spanish, must be submitted no later than August 19th, 2016. A double blind review will determine the final papers to be presented at the Congress; the final decision will be informed no later than
September 16th.
Submitted papers will be judged on their relevance and academic merit. Both theoretical and empirical contributions are welcome, as well as work by young scholars and graduate students.
