Assistant Professor, International Marketing

The Faculty of Business Studies at University of Vaasa is one of the largest in its sector in Finland. This is a fixed term contract for 3-5 years with a start date of August 1st 2016 unless otherwise agreed.
The position is located in the Faculty of Business Studies within the department of Marketing, where the main focus in research is on international business and marketing strategies as well as consumer behavior and customer value creation. The discipline offers bachelor’s and master’s level programmes in marketing and international business.

Tasks
The tasks of the Assistant Professor include independent post-doctoral academic research, teaching duties as well as administrative tasks.
The teaching and supervision tasks will be part of the EPAS-accredited Master’s Degree Programme in International Business or the bachelor level program in International Business. In teaching, specific emphasis will be on courses related to export and international marketing, digitalization and networking in international business and/or global procurement and supply chains. The teaching languages will, in principle, be Finnish and English. Some administrative duties relating to the bachelor’s programme in International Business will also be included. The tasks are agreed in more detail in the annual working plan. The annual working time for the Assistant Professor is 1600 hours.
The research activities will be part of the International Business and Marketing research group.

Requirements
The position of Assistant Professor requires a relevant doctoral degree, the ability to conduct independent scientific work and deliver high-quality teaching. Experience in international scientific publishing is valued.
Sufficient skills in the Finnish language are a requirement. If a foreigner or a Finnish citizen, who is not a native speaker of Finnish or has not been educated in Finnish, applies, s/he can be granted an exemption from the Finnish language skill requirement without a separate application. Fluency in English is a prerequisite to succeed in the position.
Salary
The salary is based on university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary for an Assistant Professor is based on demand levels 5-6 (2865-3341 €/month). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance (4-46,3%).
