Hello GeoEd colleagues,

I realize this is a bit of a stretch for this listserv, but in the interests of reaching the whole community and with the understanding that many of you are potentially both qualified and interested, I thought this might be in order.

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is searching for a new Executive Director.  The current incumbent Dr. Pat Lehey will be stepping down this fall and entering a well-deserved retirement. The academic and educational research community in the geosciences has done a good job in recent years being influential and represented within AGI’s activities and initiatives, and many members of our community have served in AGI leadership roles.  We have been able to keep AGI’s balance of industry, government/regulatory and educational priorities in balance, and I would very much like to see this trend continue.

If you or someone you know is interested in taking on this position and shaping the future of the earth science federation that is AGI, please consider applying for this position and/or contact me directly off-list.  I am on the search committee and would be happy to discuss the vision for this position and possibilities.

The position description can be found here:

Sincerely,

Eric Riggs
