Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows Post-Doctoral Fellowship
University of Notre Dame Center for STEM Education

The Notre Dame Center for STEM Education is pleased to announce a post-doctoral fellowship in service of the Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows (http://stemeducation.nd.edu/trustey). The Notre Dame Center for STEM Education is housed within the Institute for Educational Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame. The position includes significant research and program administration responsibilities, with the potential for some teaching.

Position Description and Qualifications
Research and Evaluation (40%)
1. Work with the Trustey Fellows research team to analyze data and identify new research questions that align with the Center’s research/practice foci (e.g.):
 a. STEM teacher leadership
 b. Correlating core practices with student outcomes
 c. STEM-Catholic school intersection and outcomes
 d. Equity and access in STEM
 e. Understanding effective STEM learning environments
2. Define independent research studies and data analysis using Trustey Fellows data
3. Contribute to the scholarly and intellectual life of the Institute more broadly

Program Administration (40%)
1. Coordinate Fellows’ recruitment
2. Coordinate the application, interview, and selection process
3. Oversee monthly communications
4. Coordinate Summer Institute and RISE Summit logistics
 a. Oversee travel, lodging, and meals with Heather Legault
5. Contribute to the core team’s planning and visioning

Teaching/Professional Development (20%)
1. Co-lead a Summer Institute module in an area of expertise
2. Provide content-based video coaching throughout the year


Applicants should have a disciplinary background in a STEM discipline, K-12 teaching experience, and must have an earned advanced degree (master or doctoral degree) or strong prospect of an advanced degree by August 1, 2016. Special consideration will be given to candidates with professional teaching and/or research experience in the areas of STEM Integration and mathematics instructional practice. However, applicants are not limited to these two domains.

Application Process
Applicants should submit:
1) a cover letter that at minimum includes how the candidate can contribute to the a) successful administration of the program and recruitment of Fellows, b) the professional development of the Fellows, particularly in the area of the program’s three main modules or issues of access and equity, and c) the on-going research and evaluation of the program;
2) a curriculum vitae;
3) a writing sample (of journal article or chapter length--no full dissertations);
4) three letters of recommendation

Applicants will be reviewed beginning February 15, 2016 and on a continuing basis until the position is filled.
