2016 AIB Special Interest Townhall Sessions

Call for Submissions

Chair: Annique Un, Ph.D., Northeastern University

The Academy of International Business (AIB) is introducing Townhall format sessions at the AIB Annual Meetings beginning with the 2016 Annual Meeting, which will be held June 27-30, 2016, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Townhall sessions are a new session format in which scholars share, discuss and improve ideas that are at an early stage of development. Townhall sessions are open to any topics that may be of interest to the AIB community and will be held on June 28th from 5:45pm to 6:45 pm.

Objective: A Townhall session provides an opportunity for AIB scholars to interact and share "moonshot" ideas that are not well formulated but that have the potential for changing the way we think and act. We are looking for submissions of innovative proposals on any topic that will give AIB scholars the opportunity to discuss, share and develop new ideas. These can vary widely from purely research themes, to teaching ideas, capacity building and partnering ideas, journal special issues, chapter specific initiatives, etc.

Session Format: The format for these sessions is informal, designed primarily for AIB members with similar interests to network and build a sense of community within the AIB. The format is intended for exploring new ideas and potential collaborations in a forum open to all interested AIB members. Townhall sessions are not papers sessions or panel sessions. Scheduled organizers act as facilitators rather than as presenters. There are no formal presentations but rather informal discussions of a topic and both organizers and audience have an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas. There are two types of Townhall session by size, one where the intended audience is less than 20 and one where the intended audience is more than 20.

Submission format: All submissions must use the proposal template on the next page. Proposals that do not use the template will not be considered. The proposal asks for the contact information of at least three to five AIB members that are committed to attend the conference and would act as facilitators. Please note that an AIB member can only appear on a single Townhall proposal.

Submission deadline: Please send your Townhall proposals by March 4, 2016, to Chair, Special Interest Townhall Committee, Professor Annique Un, Email: [log in to unmask]
