Dear Colleagues,

The Division for Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings has just announced several 2-3 year  “rotator” positions for new Program Directors in the following areas:

Mathematics Education Research: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2016/drl16004/drl16004.jsp?org=DRL

I encourage anyone who is interested in taking a break from a faculty position to take on new challenges and opportunities  at NSF for two or three years to check the links above.  For most “rotator” positions you maintain your faculty appointment and continue to receive your salary and benefits from your home institution. While you are serving at NSF, you also have the opportunity to devote approximately one day per week to your own scholarship or research activities.  If you have any questions about the nature of the work at NSF, or the pros and cons of serving as a Program Director, I would be happy to talk with you about the expectations and opportunities.
