Greetings Colleagues,
The 2016 Equity Within the Classroom Conference hosted by Oakland University, March 13-15, 2016 is quickly approaching and we are asking for your support by distributing a message to your university
community to encourage them to submit a proposal before the January 15, 2016 deadline.
As you know, the conference provides a forum for higher and postsecondary education personnel (faculty, administration, staff), along with community supporters, to come together to present and review current research findings including
annual retention outcome data. Best practice strategies, and specific King-Chavez-Parks developed retention strategies positively impacting equality of opportunity and degree achievement for Michigan’s academically and economically disadvantaged students.
Below are some recommended topics for workshops and poster sessions:
·
Integration Cultural programs that support and promote students’ sense of belonging
and transformation by elimination of dispositional, institutional and situational barriers.
·
Innovation Improvement of the recruitment, retention and completion rates of underrepresented
populations by creating innovative teaching and learning strategies in and out of the classroom.
·
Collaboration Visionary and collaborative community engagement partnerships and programs
with two and four year institutions, K-12 schools, parents and/or community agencies.
·
Inclusion Leading applied research and assessment on accessibility and equity
for underrepresented students in higher education.
To learn more about the types of proposals and/or to submit your proposal, please go to http://www.equityconference.com/request-for-proposals/.
Thank you,
