The Department of Marketing in the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University is seeking to hire a Department Chair scheduled to start in August of 2016 (or as negotiable). Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a relevant area of scholarship and should have a professional record consistent with an appointment to Full Professor with tenure at Michigan State University. Salary and benefits are competitive.

The Department of Marketing (marketing.broad.msu.edu) attracts bright, ambitious students and is the home of faculty who are among the most accomplished scholars in the world. The department offers bachelor's degrees in Marketing; minors in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, International Business, and Sales Leadership; a master's degree in Marketing Research; and a Ph.D. with a Marketing specialization (with a focus on Marketing Strategy, Product Development, Innovation, and International). The department is also a major contributor to the minor in Information Technology; master's in Business Analytics; the executive and full-time MBAs; and the Executive Development Programs. Additionally, the department provides teaching in large-scale service courses inside and outside the college.

A department chairperson at Michigan State University serves as the chief representative of his or her department within the University. He or she is responsible for the unit's educational, research, and outreach programs, budgetary matters, academic facilities, and personnel matters, taking into account the advisory procedures of the unit. The chairperson has a special obligation to build a department strong in scholarship, teaching capacity, and outreach.

We are looking for candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our current group of scholars. Studies in 2014 and 2015 have ranked MSU's Department of Marketing as number 7, 12, and 18 in the world for research impact (see more at marketing.broad.msu.edu). We have scholarly world leaders as faculty in Marketing Strategy, International, Innovation, and Sales. Our core focus areas are: Global Marketing Strategy; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Marketing Research, Marketing Analytics, and Business Intelligence; and Sales and Business Development.

The Broad College has 125 full-time faculty in five departments: Accounting and Information Systems, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management and one industry specific unit, The School of Hospitality Business. The work of the College is supported by a 100-person administrative staff and 50 academic specialists. Currently, some 7,700 students are enrolled in the Broad College (approximately 6,700 undergraduates and 980 graduate and doctoral students), making Broad one of the largest business colleges in the country.
