The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is recruiting for multiple Ph.D. level researcher positions in the Research Branch of the Balance of Payments Division. BEA's mission as a leader in the development of new and innovative approaches to economic measurement is to strengthen our understanding of the U.S. economy by improving GDP and other national, regional, industry, and international accounts data.
Work in the international area involves research and analysis on international finance and investment, trade in goods and services, and the operations of multinational enterprises. A successful candidate will conduct independent research on topics of importance to BEA's mission and will be expected to publish that research in professional journals as well as present at conferences. We will consider candidates conducting research in any field, although those who have demonstrated experience with empirical research involving international trade or finance or using large data sets are preferred. More information is available in a recorded 1-hour webinar that was held for job candidates in December 2015, which is available at <http://bea.adobeconnect.com/p46pnzr5mdj/>.
Starting salaries range from $63,722 to $139,523 per year, depending on experience and education. All candidates must formally apply to job postings through USAJobs at www.usajobs.gov in order to be considered for any employment opportunities within the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Announcements BEA-BPD-2016-0001 (for status candidates, which includes candidates with federal government experience) and BEA-BPD-2016-0002 (for non-status candidates, which includes those without federal government experience) opened January 6, 2016 and closes January 14, 2016. The USAJobs listings can be accessed at <https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/425655700> (BEA-BPD-2016-0001) and <https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetail/425656100> (BEA-BPD-2016-0002).
