Just in case this has any diagnostic value ... I noticed this first
yesterday when I checked my MSU e-mail using Thunderbird from
home. Then this afternoon I got the same result on a work machine
using Thunderbird logging in to a separate e-mail account. Then it
happened again using yet another work machine logging in to the same
e-mail account as on Sunday (only using Eudora this time). At least
that time I first took countermeasures, moved everyting from my In
box to a temporary folder so that I could more easily identify the duplicates.

When I exited the Thunderbird client and restarted, it did not
redownload old mail. I have not yet dared to try that with the
client on my main e-mail account.

Sure would like a more detailed explanation of what is going on.
