At least in the case of SPSS, there is a fix.  I am hoping that other programs catch
up with resolution changes, though I haven't seen that crop up anywhere else (yet).

That may have been how I ultimately did it on the machines I ran into problems on.  It's been a while, so I can't really remember, but it does ring something of a bell.

But I do think it's a high dpi screen issue, not win 10 itself.  I'm pretty sure I've installed spss on a normal res screen in 10 and not run into that problem.

High dpi in general on windows is still something of an adventure.  There's a lot of stuff out there that doesn't get along with it.

Yes!  That worked.  I've had command line stuff beaten out of
me in Windows long enough that I forgot to try that.  Thanks!

I haven't been using the Wizard for awhile now so I haven't ran into this
issue much. I scripted it a while back now to do all versions of SPSS and
AMOS but the basic idea is to use an elevated command prompt, navigate to
folder where the program licenseactivator.exe is, and run it with the
activation code.

cd "C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\23"
licenseactivator.exe c43...33e

OK, I've never installed SPSS on 8, just 7 and before.  I tried changing
the screen
res but that didn't help--the dialog box was as small as before..

Not sure whether this is an issue with win 10, or whether the computer
you're working on has a high dpi screen. I've had trouble with the
high dpi screens, and have found I had to put the screen in a more
normal resolution temporarily to install and register spss. Once
installed it seems on at higher resolution. (I've run into this issue
on win 8 machines before).

I can't imagine I'm the first to see this--

When I get to authorizing SPSS on win10, the dialog boxes are
far too small to be useful.  In particular, the input box for the
auth code itself is invisible.  If I click around the area where I
     know
it should be it sort of appears, but so far I haven't been able
     actually enter text.

SPSS itself is OK screen wise but barfs at the lack of a license or
     30 day trial.

Since SPSS uses Java I start to wonder if that is where the problem
     lies?

     Thanks for any ideas...
