The Institute for International Business (Academic Unit Prof. Nell) is currently inviting applications for a Research and Teaching Associate position (PhD student).

-          The position will be limited to a period of 6 years.

-          Starting date is expected during spring 2016 but can be negotiated.

-          The salary for the position is subject to terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Minimum gross salary/year is EUR 27,960.52 but recognition of previous employment is possible - if relevant to the position).

Within Europe, the Institute for International Business (IIB) is one of the largest International Business and Management groups with a strong focus on delivering highest quality output in research, teaching, and corporate activities. IIB research has been published in top journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science. IIB is furthermore running the prestigious CEMS Master program in International Management at WU and it maintains a strong network of collaborations with excellent universities and multinational corporations and organizations. Research and teaching associates (PhD students) are offered a very attractive work environment: You will have your own office and WU currently offers a generous budget for travelling to international academic conferences in Europe and overseas where your are expected to present and discuss your research. Furthermore, you are expected to enroll in WU’s PhD program and to teach two courses per year (most probably in the IIB’s Bachelor specialization “International Business”).

 

Your profile:

-          Very good Master’s degree in business administration/management; potentially also in the field of psychology or economics

-          Strong interest in the area of international business / global strategy (i.e. research areas of the team around Prof. Nell)

-          Very high standard of English

-          Strong analytical skills / good skills in quantitative methods

-          Ideally already some research experience (e.g. experience as a research assistant at university)

-          German language skills and professional experience (e.g. in a consulting firm or a multinational corporation) are a plus
