Invitation to Attend 2015 Odette School of Business Sustainability Symposium—Odette School of Business, University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada---October 2 &3, 2015

Sustainability has been described as the defining issue of our generation and its relevance to business is second to none.  As the study of sustainability gains momentum globally it is important to examine current research on its economic, social and environmental aspects in the various Business disciplines.  The purpose of the 2015 Odette School of Business Sustainability Symposium is to advance the study of sustainability in business by bringing together some of the leading researchers on sustainability from around the world to present and receive feedback on their latest research. The event will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 2 & 3 and will feature 3 Keynote addresses by thought leaders in sustainability in their respective disciplines, in addition to 21 scheduled paper presentations by researchers from around the globe.  Also included in the registration fee of $250.00 Canadian will be dinner at Viewpointe Winery—a beautiful estate property in Harrow, ON, in the heart of Essex County’s wine region.

The event will be hosted by the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor.   The Odette School of Business has a vibrant research culture that seeks to promote impactful research.  The School is located in the City of Windsor in Southwestern Ontario across a river from Detroit, Michigan, USA.  

 Keynote speakers at the symposium will be Dr. Andrew (Andy) Hoffman, Dr. Alan J. Richardson and Dr. Mark Reno.   Dr. Andrew Hoffman is the Holcim (US) Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan; a position that holds joint appointments at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and the School of Natural Resources & Environment.  Within this role, Andy also serves as Director of the Frederick A. and Barbara M. Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. Among his list of honors, he has been awarded the Connecticut Book Award (2011), the Aldo Leopold Fellowship (2011), the Aspen Environmental Fellowship (2011 and 2009), the Manos Page Prize (2009), the Faculty Pioneer Award (2003), the Rachel Carson Book Prize (2001) and the Klegerman Award (1995). His work has been covered in numerous media outlets, including the New York Times, Scientific American, Time, the Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio.  Dr.Alan J. Richardson has been teaching environmental accounting and sustainability reporting in business schools since the 1980s and introduced interdisciplinary courses on these topics at Queen’s University, York University and the University of Windsor. His research on the role of social and environmental information in equity valuation has appeared in leading accounting journals. In 2010 he received the L.S. Rosen Outstanding Accounting Educator Award given by the Canadian Academic Accounting Association for contributions to Canadian accounting education over a sustained period of time. He is currently past-President of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association. Dr. Mark Reno is an Executive- In-Residence at the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, Ivey School of Business, Western University.  He brings to that position expertise in the areas of executive leadership and leader character, business ethics & responsibility, and strategic management.  As an adjunct instructor at Ivey, he developed and facilitates Ivey’s HBA course in business ethics, and the business ethics course for the CIRI/Ivey Investment Relations Officer Certification Program.

Represented among the 21papers to be presented are scholars from Canada, the USA, Britain, Brazil, Sweden, China, India, Nigeria and Puerto Rico.
