Just a quick reminder for those returning to campus for the fall semester... If you support any users who were not on campus over our upgrade on July 1st, please pass this along :

MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities launched a new voicemail system for campus customers on July 1, 2015. The new system, called Avaya Aura Messaging, replaced the previous voicemail system that no longer has vendor support. The Avaya Aura Messaging system offers many updated features including providing a new user-friendly interface, integrating more easily with email services, integrated faxing services and much more.
Campus telephone customers with Avaya-branded phones have been automatically moved to the new Avaya Aura Messaging voicemail system. (To determine what type of phone is being used, customers can look for the name "Avaya" on their phones.)
The new system fully launched on July 1, 2015. Here are some tips for using the new system:

  * When users log in to the new system for the first time, they will be required to change their PIN to meet new password standards. The new standard requires a password of at least four non-sequential or repeating numbers that does not include the user's extension.
  * Users that have messages forwarded to their email automatically through the Unified Messaging service and have not already updated their preferences on the new system will need to reset this service.
  * Quick reference and user guides are available on the IPF website<http://ipf.msu.edu/services/voicemail/index.html>.
Those campus telephone customers who are not using the Avaya Campus PBX service did not have their voicemail service (often called "Campus Voicemail") automatically moved to the new system. Campus Voicemail users typically check voicemail by dialing (517) 432-2100 from non-Avaya-branded telephones. They will need to seek alternative voicemail solutions by July 1, 2016, when the legacy campus voicemail service will be discontinued due to lack of vendor support. IPF's Telecommunication Systems department can provide information about available options, including switching to telephone systems that feature the Avaya Aura Messaging system or services available directly from AT&T.
Visit IPF's voicemail services web page<http://ipf.msu.edu/services/voicemail/index.html> or call (517) 353-5515 for more information or to schedule a consultation.
