FACULTY OPENING FOR SENIOR ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP - NC STATE UNIVERSITY



The Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE) at North Carolina State University’s Poole College of Management welcomes applications for a Senior Assistant or Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship (to begin in August, 2016).

 

We seek an individual with an established scholarly research record in the field of entrepreneurship, with a secondary focus on strategy, innovation, and/or management of technology. Candidates will have an earned doctorate, a sustained record of publishing in top journals, and proven excellence in teaching at all levels. Salary is competitive. We will begin screening applications immediately, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. This position is part of the College’s continued commitment to grow our presence in entrepreneurship.

  

We are an engaged and highly collegial group of scholars, working in one of the world¹s very best locations for people interested in the intersection of entrepreneurship, management, and technology. Our tenured/tenure-track faculty currently includes: Professors Brad Kirkman (Department Head), Steve Allen, Steve Barr, Robert Clark, Steve Markham, Roger Mayer and Beverly Tyler; Associate Professors Shannon Davis, Paul Mulvey, and Greg Young; and Assistant Professors Nachiket Bhawe and Jeff Pollack.

 

Highly interdisciplinary in nature, the MIE department has faculty with research programs in entrepreneurship, strategy, management of technology and innovation, organizational behavior, and human resources. The MIE department (http://poole.ncsu.edu/index-exp.php/mie/mie) and other departments in the Poole College of Management house several distinguished academic centers, including The Entrepreneurship Collaborative (TEC) (http://tec.poole.ncsu.edu/), Center for Innovation Management Studies (CIMS ) (http://cims.ncsu.edu/), Biosciences Initiative (http://biosci.poole.ncsu.edu), Supply Chain Research Cooperative (http://scm.ncsu.edu), and the Enterprise Risk Management Initiative (http://poole.ncsu.edu/erm/). We also have several international partnerships with universities around the globe. Our faculty collaborate actively with faculty across the university and beyond.

 

North Carolina State University is located in Raleigh, NC, within minutes of the technology-rich companies of the Research Triangle Park region and also quite near Duke University and UNC at Chapel Hill (http://www.visitraleigh.com/). With over 34,000 students and over 200 degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, professional, and doctoral levels, NC State University is the largest university in North Carolina and is a major research university with traditional strengths in science and technology. 


MIE faculty have participated actively in winning two recent National Science Foundation Engineering Research Centers: FREEDM and ASSIST. Our 1000- acre Centennial Campus adjoins the 700-acre main campus and has been recently selected as the Best University Research Park in the United States. The Research Triangle area is routinely and repeatedly judged as among the best places in the country to start and grow a business and as a great place to live for people of all ages. The local cultural and arts scene would do much larger cities proud. You can enjoy the mountains (the best east of the Rockies) and the beach (endless and freely accessible) during the same weekend, stopping to enjoy several large recreational lakes along the way.
