This email is being sent to all email addresses that are currently associated with a voicemail box in the Campus Voicemail System.

This coming Wednesday, July 1st, MSU Telecom Systems will be making changes to the voicemail platform that you are using. A summary of these changes for Avaya and Non-Avaya Phone users follows:

For users with Avaya Phones, on July 1st by 8am:

  * Your voicemail box will be moved to the new Avaya Aura Messaging System.
  * Your new mailbox will be active and answering calls on the new system.
  * Unless you had initialized the mailbox in the new system (you can do this today), the mailbox will be limited in ways that include:
     * Voicemails will not automatically be forwarded to your email as they are today.
     * Callers will hear generic greetings and your name will be stated by a text-to-speech application.
     * Message retrieval will be accomplished by dialing a new number, or using the message buttons on your Avaya phone.
  * Messages that were left prior to July 1st will continue to exist at the legacy voicemail system and can be retrieved by dialing 517-432-2100 or 2-2100.
  *   A quick-reference guide is available for download at : http://ipf.msu.edu/_files/pdfs/user-guides/avaya-aura-messaging-quick-reference-guide.pdf <http://ipf.msu.edu/_files/pdfs/user-guides/avaya-aura-messaging-quick-reference-guide.pdf%20>
     * This includes instructions on how to setup email forwarding (Notify-Me), allow incoming faxes to your voicemail box, and navigate the new voicemail system.

REQUIRED ACTION PREFERRED BEFORE July 1st:

  * Initialize your mailbox by logging to your new mailbox by calling the NEW Avaya Aura Messaging number 2-0000 or 517-432-0000 and using your current voicemail password (or ‘STATE’ if your password does not meet the new security requirements). This initialization will require you to change your password, and will ask you to record your name and optionally record a greeting.
  * Re-enable the voicemail-to-email forwarding by visiting http://www.telecom.msu.edu/vm, using your 5-digit extension and new voicemail password, and typing your email under the preferences/notify me/ voicemail notification section.
  * Plan to use your new mailbox to retrieve new messages after July 1st. You may wish to have a quick reference guide available and to program the new number into the speed dials and contact information of your communication devices.

For users without Avaya Phones, on July 1st:

  * Voicemail-to-email forwarding will continue to function as it did before.
  * Access to the Unified Messaging Website (http://messaging.telecom.pp.msu.edu) will no longer be available. You will no longer be able to use a web browser to check your voicemail messages.

REQUIRED ACTION: Future changes to email forwarding will require a service request to IPF Telecom Systems on and after this date.
