The Kogod School of Business at American University invites applications 
and nominations for a tenure-track appointment in Management with 
specialization in entrepreneurship to begin in Fall 2016. The tenure-track 
faculty position will be open rank, but Advanced Assistant, Associate, or 
Full Professor is preferred.  The successful candidate will be expected to 
provide intellectual leadership to our Sustainable Entrepreneurship and 
Innovation Initiative.  Applicants should have a Ph.D. in appropriate 
management field with primary focus on entrepreneurship and possible 
secondary interests in strategy, family business, global corporate 
citizenship, and/or sustainability. Candidates should be effective 
teachers and must be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly 
research. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong 
academic and business background and are actively engaged with the 
entrepreneurship community.   Depending on qualifications, the appointee 
to the tenure track position may be recommended for tenure at the time of 
hiring. 

We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality 
scholarship.  Teaching specialization in entrepreneurship is required with 
secondary teaching interests in other management areas. In addition to 
scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include providing 
intellectual leadership to the Kogod Sustainable Entrepreneurship and 
Innovation Initiative and participation in department, school and 
university activities.  Candidates applying to the Associate and Full 
Professor ranks should have a track record of high quality scholarship, 
outstanding teaching, and demonstrated leadership in academic and 
professional communities.

The new Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative launched 
September 2013 and the Entrepreneurship Incubator opened September 2014 
which supports business and social student ventures.  We have raised 
approximately $235,000 for an Entrepreneurship Venture Fund.  The 
Entrepreneurship Initiative participated in Global Entrepreneurship Week 
hosting six panels which drew over 435 individuals and 35 entrants from 
across the University for a two-minute video ?The Big Idea? Pitch 
Competition.  In addition, the Kogod School has an active Entrepreneurship 
Advisory Council composed of leading entrepreneurs, business and other 
leading business and nonprofit leaders.  During AY 2014-15 there were over 
300 students enrolled in Kogod School entrepreneurship classes. Learn more
