*New Faculty Consortium* *Call for Applications* *AIB US Southeast November 12, 2015* *Chair: Peter Magnusson, University of Alabama* *Application Deadline: September 30, 2015* The New Faculty Development Consortium is targeted towards faculty who are in the initial stages of their academic careers and who would like to gain insights about teaching, research, publishing and professional development. Faculty members who have earned their doctoral degrees and are in the first three years of their academic careers are encouraged to apply. The New Faculty Development workshop provides a forum for interaction for new and junior faculty with senior faculty about how to prosper in their academic career. The workshop will focus on strategies for effective teaching, research, and overall career strategies for developing your career path in academia. You will have a chance to interact with an exciting team of faculty colleagues through experiential discussions and informal conversations. *The consortium will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 **as part of the AIB-SE conference.* Although each participant will be required to register for the 2014 AIB-SE Annual Meeting, there will no additional fees for participating in this consortium. *Agenda* 9:00 – Depart from Savannah Marriott Riverfront via bus to Savannah State University 9:30 – Brief introduction and tour of Savannah State University 10:00 – Panel discussion on “Transitioning from a Ph.D. student to a successful faculty member” 11:15 – Break 11:30 – Small group research discussion 12:30 – Lunch (jointly with the doctoral consortium and X-culture participants, sponsored by Savannah State University) 2:00 – Bus returns to the Savannah Marriott Riverfront 3:00 – Becoming a Master in the International Business classroom, teaching seminar led by Dr. Tamer Cavusgil 7:00 – Opening reception at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront To facilitate close personal engagement, space for this workshop is limited and participation is by application only. We expect about 20 new faculty participants. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2015.* The Conference AIB-SE is one of the largest and most active regional divisions of the Academy of International Business’s 16 worldwide chapters. AIB-SE’s annual conference centers on the presentation of the newest ideas in international business to an international audience of academic scholars and business practitioners. The conference is characterized by a strong developmental focus, providing participants with a supportive and collegial platform to discuss and develop ideas, and mentoring and helping authors enhance their papers for publication. Over the past three years, AIB-SE (www.aibse.org) has experienced a significant transformation and growth. AIB-SE has established itself as a valuable brand in the International Business community and the conference has become a reputable academic meeting of choice for more than 300 participants from nearly 40 countries. *About the Chair* Dr. Peter Magnusson is an Associate Professor of international marketing at the University of Alabama. He served as the AIB-SE 2013 Conference Program Chair, the 2014 AIB-SE Conference Chair, and is currently serving as Chair of AIB-SE. Dr. Magnusson’s research is focused on issues related to international marketing strategy, including export marketing and localization vs. standardization. Another stream of research is focused on issues related to country of origin and global branding. His research has been published in the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Development Processes, and International Marketing Review, among others.
