Assistant Professor

About the Position: A full-time, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level is available at Western Washington University in International Business and Strategy.  The starting date is September 2016.

About the Department and University: The College of Business and Economics is considered a leadership unit within Western Washington University.  The College is AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has more than 65 full-time faculty.  The College grants an MBA degree along with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, Manufacturing Management and Economics. The position is in the Department of Management.

The University is located in beautiful Bellingham, a scenic coastal city of approximately 80,000 situated between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia.  With easy access to both the Cascade mountain range and the Pacific coast, the region is rich in cultural events and attractions as well as many recreational activities.

 

Position Responsibilities: Initial teaching responsibilities will include two courses, the international business management course for senior IB students and the capstone strategy course.    The ability to teach advanced specialty courses in international business would also be attractive. Most teaching will be at the undergraduate level, though some MBA teaching may be possible over time.  The person selected should have a commitment to working with a four-person international business group to further develop a strong international business program.  The candidate should be comfortable working with, and searching for collaborative research opportunities with, the IB faculty and the wider group of teachers and researchers interested in international topics throughout the College.

 

Required Qualifications:

·                PhD or ABD or equivalent in an international business relevant field.

                 ABD candidates must have degree completed by June 15, 2017.

·                 Evidence of potential for high quality research in international business, strategy or related areas

·                Ability to effectively teach the international business management and capstone strategy courses

 

Preferred Qualifications

·                PhD in International Business / International Management

·                Commitment to International Business as a program of study

·                Commitment to working effectively with Western’s increasingly diverse student body

·                Potential to do joint research with existing international business faculty and other faculty colleagues

·                Ability to teach specialty international business courses at the advanced undergraduate level

·                Some Post-PhD teaching experience

Salary: $95K to $100K commensurate with experience and qualifications
