PhD Studentship (Cross-Cultural Management) - University of Exeter Business School
Department of Organisation Studies (International Business subject-group)
The University of Exeter Business School is pleased to be offering studentships for entry in 2015-16. Studentships will be awarded on the basis of merit and strategic fit with the aims of the Business School’s research profile.
The Business School is accredited by EQUIS and AMBA, and is highly ranked in national league tables (http://business-school.exeter.ac.uk/about/leaguetables/). The University of Exeter is
a member of the Russell Group,
which represents 24 leading research-intensive UK universities.
The full time studentship will cover fees and an annual stipend of approximately £14,057 (2015/2016 rate) for up to three years. Both UK/EU and international students are eligible to apply. We welcome applications for a fully funded studentship in any area of Organisation Studies, including marketing, HRM, leadership, sustainability and international business.
Applications in the following areas and with the following proposed supervisory teams are especially welcome:
Challenges of Intercultural Encounters and Identity-Construction in international business management and multicultural organisations – (Supervisors: David Guttormsen and Annie Pye)
Organisations encompass increasingly diverse multicultural workforces where cultural influence may significantly impinge on cross-border operations and performance. The new business landscape only intensifies these challenges: the
shift of the economic centre of gravity to Asian growth markets and other emerging economies in untrodden cultural terrains for Western companies. We invite proposals for PhD research in the field of cultural identities and intercultural challenges faced daily
by expatriates which may lead to ‘failed’ international assignments.
