The Science and Mathematics Education Program, house in the School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership (STCL) in the College of Education at Oklahoma State Unviversity is seeking a leading professional with a national record of
scholarship in P-12 Science or Mathematics Education to assume the role of Associate Professor/Professor, tenure track, and Frank and Carol Morsani Endowed Chair in Science or Mathematics Education.
This
position will
be located
on the
scenic main
campus
in Stillwater,
Oklahoma.

Science and
Mathematics
Education (SMED)
program prepares
students to
be leaders
in both
formal
and informal
education settings.
SMED
faculty members
teach science
and mathematics
education courses
within the
elementary and
secondary education
programs,
both of
which are
accredited by
the National
Council of
Accreditation of
Teacher of
Education (NCATE).
In addition
to offering
undergraduate coursework,
the program
offers graduate
courses in
support of
the Master
of Science
and Doctor
of Philosophy
degrees.
Additionally,
the Center
for Research
in STEM
Teaching and
Learning (CRSTL),
housed in
the College
of Education,
offers a
unique platform
for research
opportunities. This
position is
a unique
opportunity for
an established
scholar to
work
in a
highly collaborative
environment.
This faculty
member
will join
a group
of science
and mathematics
education faculty
who
are active
as researchers,
instructors, grant
writers, and
who
are significantly
involved in
a variety
of national
organizations.
This
tenure-‐track faculty
member
will contribute
to the
mathematics/science education
program and
the School
of Teaching
and Curriculum
Leadership (STCL),
as well
as to
the College
of Education
and Oklahoma
State University,
by engaging
in these
and other
professional activities:
·
Teach
graduate courses
in mathematics
and/or science
education (some
of these
at the
Tulsa campus)
·
Recruit
and mentor
graduate students;
·
Conduct
a program
of focused
research and
publication related
to the
position;
·
Seek
external funding
through grants,
including frequently
collaborating with
others in
the School,
College, University,
public schools,
and community
on grants;
·
Collaborate
with university
and public
school faculty;
·
Serve
in leadership
positions in
professional organizations;
·
Serve
actively in
the Center
for Research
on STEM
Teaching and
Learning;
·
Develop
teacher education
curricula; and
·
Participate
in university
outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS:
:
Individuals seeking
this position
must
possess the
following: (1)
an earned
doctorate with
an emphasis
in Mathematics
Education or
Science Education,
or related
area and
emphasis; a
clearly articulated
research agenda;
history of
external funding
success; experience
in mathematics
or science
education at
a research
institution; national
visibility in
mathematics
or science
education; evidence
of consistently
high quality
teaching; ability
to serve
as research
mentor
to graduate
students; evidence
of intra-‐
and inter-‐school
and college
collaboration; and
a minimum
of three
years of
successful PK-‐12
classroom teaching
experience.
