The .wav file is so that you can store the conversation longer than the 30 days or whatever voicemail allows. Our engineers use the feature to archive conversations. It is just another part of the unified messaging.
I had originally mentioned it because I thought the OP was looking for a file.

They don’t even need to email it a .wav. There is an interface where you can listen to your voice mails via a browser:

I may have misspoke. Telecom has a service where they can email a .wav file of the voicemail. I missed the transcription part. I can’t say if they can provide that service.

I am sure Nick K. will chime in with this in a minute, but yes, the Telecom dept offers exactly that. I am pretty sure you start with a Service Request at the IPF web site.

truly appreciate the responses you all sent. Now, my next question.
Is there a service that can provide transcription of voicemails and dump them in an email? One of my faculty is under the impression that this is a service offered by MSU, but I’ve never heard
of it before. I can imagine it would be quite useful to someone who is hearing impaired, but I have no idea who might offer such a thing. Has anyone heard of a service like this offered on campus?
