Subject: YOU ARE INVITED: Opportunities for Urban Agriculture in the 2014 Farm Bill

[United States Senator Debbie Stabenow - Michigan]

Dear Colleen,

After passage of the 2014 Farm Bill, there has been incredible interest in how this new law can benefit agriculture in Michigan's urban communities. I invite you to participate in one of five forums being conducted by experts from my staff, as well as from the USDA and Michigan State University. These forums will focus on the programs and resources available from the 2014 Farm Bill to advance agriculture in Michigan's urban communities, and provide an opportunity for you and other stakeholders to share your successes, challenges and ideas.

To attend one of the following events, RSVP to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or call 616-975-0052 and provide your name, organization, number of people attending, and which forum you plan to attend.

  *   Detroit – Monday, April 13 1:00-2:30 p.m., Eastern Market, 2934 Russell St
  * Flint – Tuesday, April 14, 9:30-11:00 a.m., Flint Farmers Market, 300 East First St
  *   Lansing - Tuesday, April 14, 1:30-3:00 p.m., Allen Street Farmers Market, 1629 E. Kalamazoo St
  *   Grand Rapids – Wednesday, April 15, 9:30-11:00 a.m., Kent County MSU Extension, 775 Ball St N.E.
  * Kalamazoo – Wednesday, April 15, 1:00-2:30 p.m., Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Arcadia Commons Campus, Anna Whitten Hall – Room 128AB, 202 North Rose Street

Please feel free to forward this invite to other urban agriculture stakeholders in your organization or community.

As Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, your input is very important to me. I hope you can join my staff at one of these forums. Thank you for the important work that you do.

Sincerely,
[Debbie Stabenow]

Debbie Stabenow
