Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China), which has one of the strongest International Business Groups in Asia, is seeking to appoint to the following positions:

1.    Assistant Professor of International Business or Strategy

2.    Associate Professor of International Business or Strategy

In operation for only a decade, NUBS China already has approximately 2,000 undergraduate students, 250 masters students, a small Ph.D. program, and growing executive education activity. It has a rapidly expanding international faculty of about 90 coming from over 25 countries permanently based in Ningbo. It is EQUIS accredited and is part of a university that is highly rated and is seeking to improve further its ranking among the world’s top research and teaching universities. Under the leadership of Dean Carl Fey NUBS China has ambitious plans for the school to rapidly continue to progress towards an increasing focus on high impact research, high quality teaching, and customized executive education. NUBS China focuses its efforts around the three Is-international, Innovative, and Interactive. In addition, NUBS China, which carries out instruction in English, is significantly increasing its research focus and provides an excellent environment and conditions for scholars interested in pursuing an active research agenda. Indeed, NUBS China has become a  vibrant research base evidenced by important support initiatives like the Outstanding Researcher Support System and a faculty-focused research methods seminar series. 

NUBS China offers European-level competitive salaries and benefits with reasonable teaching loads. In addition, an attractive international benefits package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance, support for international schooling (there are three international schools in Ningbo), and insurance (including international medical insurance) will be provided for international appointments. NUBS China also provides a competitive research support package for candidates showing good research output.  There are excellent opportunities for research, and the person appointed will be expected to develop their own research activities.  Indeed, NUBS China has made great efforts to create an atmosphere which is supportive of faculty conducting high quality research which makes an impact.  The role holder may be asked to undertake academic leadership and managerial responsibilities within the School. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline. Excellent English communication skills are essential together with strong teaching abilities. Candidates are also expected to have demonstrated an ability to conduct high-quality research and attract research funding.

Ningbo is located only 2-3 hours from Shanghai by car or train (with the fastest train currently taking 1 hour and 40 minutes). It is a relatively high-income city for China, with a per capita income (PPP basis) of about US $12,000. Ningbo has one of Chinas largest deep-water ports, a modern airport with excellent connections to cities such as Beijing, Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei and high-speed rail connections to other major cities in China. It has international schools, excellent shopping facilities and an attractive multicultural nightlife. It also has many rivers, lakes and mountains in the outskirts and is considered to be one of the cities in China which has the best quality of life.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to 5 years starting 1 September 2015 (an earlier start date may be possible if mutually agreeable).
