CALL FOR PAPERS
JIBS Paper Development Workshop
Academy of International Business, Western Europe Chapter
EIBA 2015 | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Tuesday, December 1, 2015
Submission deadline: August 15, 2015

The 2015 AIB-WE Chapter Journal of International Business Studies Paper Development Workshop (JIBS-PDW) will be held at the conference venue (PUC-Rio) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, as part of the pre-conference program for the Academy of International Business, Western Europe (AIB-WE) Chapter annual meeting. The PDW is the most extensive of the various JIBS outreach activities conducted by the JIBS editorial team. Organized by José Pla-Barber (AIB-WE Chapter Chair) and Ulf Andersson (JIBS Area Editor), the 2015 JIBS-PDW involves JIBS editors, many experienced scholars, and editorial board members.
The purpose of the JIBS-PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their current research projects in international business studies. While we hope that many of these papers will be eventually submitted to JIBS, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve the quality of IB research and bring new scholars into the IB field. We invite original papers from junior authors or junior faculty members who have not previously published in JIBS. In particular, we hope to attract papers from scholars (1) who are located in universities in emerging economies or in universities that offer limited support for international business research, and/or (2) who are trained in disciplines less commonly associated with the field (e.g., human geography, political science, ethnography, or economic history) but are also interested in conducting international business research.
The JIBS-PDW is structured to provide feedback to authors with research papers, and to researchers who are designing empirical studies, on International Business topics. JIBS-PDW participants will receive feedback on their work from JIBS editors, members of the Consulting Editors Board (CEB), Editorial Review Board (ERB), and other experienced scholars. The 2015 program will start with an introductory session led by JIBS Area Editor Ulf Andersson. The participants will then be divided into groups. Authors will be paired with CEB, ERB, and guest editors, for discussions where two guest editors will provide feedback to three authors on improving their papers.
Papers should be submitted to AIB-WE Chapter Chair, José Pla-Barber ([log in to unmask]). The deadline for submissions is August 15, 2015. Please note that each applicant can make one submission only and may also have submitted another (or the same) version of the paper for presentation at the EIBA 2015 Conference. Papers must be less than 10,000 words in length, and follow the JIBS Style Guide (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jibs/style_guide.html). All authors
should indicate their names and affiliations on the front page of the manuscript (immediately below the title). Preference will be given to participants who have not attended any JIBS-PDWs in the past. Manuscript authors who have applied in the past but were not accepted to the Workshop should make sure that they submit a different paper to this year’s JIBS-PDW.
Participation at the 2015 JIBS-PDW is limited to 12 papers. Participants will be accepted based on the quality of their submitted work. Participants will be notified about the acceptance of their submissions no later than September 15, 2015 and will need to confirm their participation by September 30, 2015. They will then be invited to submit a revised manuscript (i.e., the version to be discussed at the JIBS-PDW) by October 31, 2015.
NOTE: All participants must register for the EIBA 2015 Conference (www.eiba2015.org) before they confirm their attendance at the JIBS-PDW.
