Society, Technology, and Japanese Entrepreneurship Conference
April 2-3, 2015

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business, Stanford University's Technology Venture Program, the University of California at San Diego, and the University of Tokyo are delighted to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the seventh annual Conference on Japanese Entrepreneurship, to be held on April 2-3, 2015, at Stanford University, sponsored by Diebold Corporation and the sponsoring universities.

The theme of this conference is "Society, Technology, and Entrepreneurship."  In our view, while scholars of entrepreneurship take account of national contexts in entrepreneurial research, we believe it has become increasingly important to understand not only how entrepreneurs influence economic and institutional changes within national borders, but also how different entrepreneurial environments affect society at large and drive institutional change.

Our conference will feature, as before, papers selected from the management, strategy, organizations, political science and economics literatures.  Papers selected will reflect original contributions to the emerging field of entrepreneurship theory and will generally feature Japan as an empirical laboratory. Other relevant empirical contexts will be considered. Past conferences have featured high-quality contributions on issues related to entrepreneurship, institutions, and Japan, such as empirical studies, case studies, political and social institutional studies in Japan, and new research methodology including experimental design.

Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for papers related to the conference theme, and then plan to attend. The STAJE dates of April 2-3 are timed for the beautiful early spring scenery in Northern California.  The conference will be held on the new engineering campus of Stanford.
