We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Strategic Human Resource Management to contribute to our growing strengths in Human Resource Management, International Business and Strategy.  Applications are welcomed from all area of HRM but have a preference for candidates whose work aligns to strategic and international HRM.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

A combination of academic research, teaching and administration as agreed with the Head of School.

 

Research will be expected to lead to the regular publication of articles in internationally recognised refereed journals in HRM, strategic HRM, international HRM, international business, strategy or related fields. Teaching will span strategic and potentially international HRM and may include any combination of undergraduate, postgraduate tutorials and project/dissertation supervision, PhD supervision, and personal tutoring, together with the appropriate assessment and feedback.

 

Administration may include elements of module convening, and a variety of necessary roles (e.g. senior tutor, admissions tutor, examinations officer, etc.) within the School.

 

Supervision received

Newly appointed staff at the Assistant Professor level will have mentors for both teaching and research and will receive general guidance from the Head of School and other experienced staff.

 

Supervision given

Administrative tasks may require some supervision of clerical staff, though not generally their line management.

 

Contact

The work will involve liaison with a variety of staff in the School and in other schools in the University, depending upon the tasks being undertaken. Specific tasks may require contacts with a range of external bodies.

The terms and conditions will be standard terms and conditions for an Assistant Professor at the University.

 

You will have:

-     A PhD in a relevant area, with evidence of the ability to publish your research in the top international academic journals

-     A strong interest in teaching on Masters programmes (undergraduate, MSc or MBA)
