Subject: [CRFS] Cesar Chavez: Special Screening at Michigan Good Food Summit!

[Cesar Chavez]Special Screening of Cesar Chavez at the Michigan Good Food Summit!
In just 5 weeks, the third Michigan Good Food Summit will be returning to the Lansing! The evening before the main Summit sessions, on Monday, October 27th, a special showing of the 2014 film, Cesar Chavez, will be presented, along with anetworking reception.
The film tells the story of the famed civil rights leader and labor organizer, Cesar Chavez, and chronicles the birth of a modern American movement. “Chavez inspired millions of Americans from all walks of life who never worked on a farm to fight for social justice. His triumphant journey is a remarkable testament to the power of one individual's ability to change the world,” states Pantelion Films.
The theme of social justice in the food system will be picked up in a special lunch keynote at the October 28th Summit.
Cesar Chavez is directed by Diego Luna of the 2002 Oscar-winning film Frida, and stars Michael Peña, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson and John Malkovich.
Everyone is invited at 4:00 p.m. to join friends and colleagues to enjoy great food and beverages from Michigan farmers and producers and then view the film at 5:00 p.m. It’s an evening you don’t want to miss!
Registration is open at: https://www.regonline.com/2014goodfoodsummit where you can also view the entire agenda. To attend the reception and Summit, the fee is $40; for the October 28th Summit only, the fee is $30.
For those unable to travel to Lansing the evening before the summit, the Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) is extending an opportunity to host a local screening of Cesar Chavez prior to the Summit.CRFS will provide a copy of the film and pay for the screening rights on your group’s behalf.
