Position Announcement: Cornell University seeks candidates for a position of Post Doctoral Associate (Social Scientist) to work with the Department of Natural Resources and the Cornell Institute for Climate Change and Agriculture on a suite of projects related to assessments and surveys of agricultural and community risks, and development of participatory processes to engage stakeholders in climate change adaptation and mitigation options in the Northeast.
 
This position includes a 12-month initial appointment with possible extension, depending on performance and additional funding availability. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the Department of Natural Resources, Human Dimensions Research Unit (http://www2.dnr.cornell.edu/hdru/index-2.html), in collaboration with the Cornell Institute for Climate Change and Agriculture (http://climateinstitute.cals.cornell.edu/). Applicants are encouraged to visit these sites to learn more about Cornell’s interdisciplinary social science research and outreach on climate change issues.

A Ph.D. in a social science discipline (sociology/rural sociology, political science, economics, social psychology, geography, communications, human dimensions of natural resources) and a strong understanding of agricultural and natural resource systems, as well as broad social science methodological competence and excellent communication stills, are required.  Candidates should use these documents to demonstrate an innovative and interdisciplinary approach to research and outreach on climate change issues at the agricultural and community level.
