Taste the Local Difference™, the local
food marketing program managed by the Michigan Land Use Institute, is
expanding its program and hiring a TLD Project Coordinator. TLD is one
of the country’s best-known local food marketing programs, now in its
11th year of operation.
The project is
entering an exciting
phase of focus and expansion. TLD is searching for a passionate and
entrepreneurial self-starter capable of taking on the audacious goal of
providing 20% of northwest Michigan’s food from the region’s farms by
2020. This position will help to execute the TLD marketing strategy in
stores and markets across northwest Michigan.
The key
aspects of this position will include:
Providing marketing
campaign support
· Doing research on local food consumption
·
Helping to create a long-range strategic plan for TLD
·
Managing TLD social media
· Managing TLD partner
photographs for use in print and online publications
·
Managing sales of advertising on TLD materials
· Writing
for publication
The position will be housed at the Michigan
Land Use Institute’s office in downtown Traverse City, but will require a
moderate amount of travel in the region. The environment will be fun
and fast-paced, helping TLD to move at the pace of business.
Qualifications

Self-starter; able to work well without constant direction

Entrepreneurial skills
· Strong oral and written
communication skills
· Strong organizational skills and
attention to detail
· Strong computer skills (MS Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint)
· Strong social media skills
(Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
· Previous marketing skills
strongly preferred
· Communications, marketing, food
systems experience or interest preferred
· Responsible for
following MLUI personnel Policy and Procedures Handbook.
·
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in marketing, natural
resources, or other related field.
Time Commitment
This
is a full-time, 40-hour
per week position starting in the fall of 2014.
