Introduction

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the management of the flow of goods which
includes the movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process
inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption.
Interconnected or interlinked networks, channels, and node businesses are
involved in the provision of products and services required by end-users in
a supply chain. SCM has been defined as the design, planning, execution,
control, and monitoring of supply chain activities with the objective of
creating net value, building a competitive infrastructure, leveraging
worldwide logistics, synchronizing supply with demand and measuring
performance globally. SCM draws heavily from the areas of operations
management, logistics, procurement, marketing, & sales, and information
technology, and strives for an integrated approach.

Objective

The primary objective of the publication is that of Reference material for
scholars, business executives, scholar-practitioners, and university
students who need to better understand the growing importance of Supply
Chain Management in today’s global economy. The book should be published
because much extant literature on SCM exists scattered in multiple
publications such as articles and book chapters. This publication would
seek to rectify this situation by combining various important aspects of
SCM into one "volume" so readers could more easily and quickly access
needed information on the field. This publication will have a minimum of
750,000 edited English words.
Target Audience

The primary intended audience is leading academics and
scholar-practitioners who need a single reference source for this field.
The secondary intended audience is business executives and
undergraduate/graduate business students who require the same Reference
material.
