In Case you have not yet seen it. Since most of our soils are too wet to work in the fields (another advantage of hoop houses:)) you may have time to watch this if you work with or are developing food hubs. Assessing a food hub is like assessing any business, for its strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.

1. Using Wholesome Wave's Food Hub Business Assessment Toolkit to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your food hub
2. Partnerships between food hubs and Whole Foods

Short bio on Darrow —— Darrow Vanderburgh-Wertz is the Portfolio Manager for the Healthy Food Commerce Investments team at Wholesome Wave, where she works to build strong regional food systems.  Day-to-day, she provides business planning, investor coordination, and deal structuring assistance to food hubs that serve small farmers and low-income customers.  

Short bio on Mary Ann  — — Mary Ann Nisely has been with Whole Foods since 2000, advancing through several different roles to her current position as Marketing and Communit Relations specialist.  She grew up working in her family’s greenhouse and flower shop business in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
