American School of Business in Tunisia

University of Montplaisir Tunisia (UMT)

Tunisa

University of Montplaisir Tunisia (UMT) (http://www.umt.ens.tn), established in 1993, is the oldest private university across Tunisia. Today, it boasts an alumni of more than 5000 graduates and a student body of more than 500 students representing both Tunisian and international students drawn from different parts of Africa.

UMT is a French medium university, that has been offering bachelor and masters programs in different areas of business administration and engineering since its inception in 1993.

It would be establishing an English medium section on September 15, 2014 patterned against American style of education.

UMT is seeking Visiting Professors for the newly established American School of Business in Tunisia (ASBT).

ASBT is inviting applications for up to FIVE Visiting Professors in (i) Economics, (ii) Mathematics/Statistics, (iii) English, (iv) Information Technology and  (v) Business Administration to begin their jobs in Tunisia on September 15, 2014.

In order to qualify for these positions, an ideal candidate should have a Ph.D., in the field of teaching from an AACSB accredited US university with specialization in any of the aforementioned areas.  However, those holding  masters degrees alongwith rich professional experience would also be hired as Clinical Professors.

Preference will be given to American professors and native speakers of English language who are proceeding on sabbaticals. These are ideal positions for those seeking a fun place to enjoy Mediterranean serenity and proximity to Europe for memorable vacations during their sabbaticals. For instance, the flight from Tunis to Rome (Italy) takes less than an hour.

Salary will be $25,000 for a 9 months’ contract. Free furnished accommodation, and free two economy class air tickets from US to Tunisia per year for the appointee and his/her spouse will also be provided on the top of salary.

Normal teaching load would be 9 credits (3 courses) per semester for two semesters (Fall, and Spring). In addition, every faculty member is required to assume some kind of administrative responsibility. There is NO research expectation for these positions.

UMT is making a transition to become American University for Maghreb (AUM) in foreseeable future to be located at a permanent location on the outskirts of Tunisia. Hence, the newly hired faculty would play a prominent role in creating the right “American University Culture” for AUM.

Interested applicants are requested to send following documentation as email attachments to Prof. Zafar U. Ahmed (Consultant, University of Montplaisir, Tunisia) ASAP:
