Entitled “Blurring the Boundaries ,” the lecture recital features pianist
Haobing
Zhu, a doctoral candidate in piano performance at MSU College of Music, who
will give a world-premiere performance of a Chinese piano composition.
Hoping to illustrate the cultural fusion of Chinese aesthetic concepts
with Western compositional techniques, Zhu says the audience will
experience “the dynamic diversity of (the) Chinese culture …through the
great beauty of the language we all understand—music.”
The program will be one hour long with a reception to follow. It is free
and open to the public.
