Description: | Sustainability is both an institutional commitment and a community value, exercised daily as DePauw University pursues our commitment to carbon neutrality by 2040. The Office for Sustainability seeks an individual to work with the Sustainability Director to lead day-to-day activities of the Sustainability program at DePauw. We are seeking a thoughtful, reflective individual with an understanding of the urgency of anthropogenic climate disruption and a passion for sustainable solutions that support our education mission. This position will report to and work closely with DePauw’s Sustainability Director; and will engage and empower our campus and community toward becoming more socially, economically, and environmentally just.
This individual will also manage and work on the one-acre campus farm, primarily from May to September. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to planting plants, weeding, trimming, cleaning, keeping all records for the campus farm, making plans to expand the farm, and interfacing with Bon Appetit, local food pantries, and other interested parties.

Duties: | Plant, harvest, and sell produce from the campus farm to DePauw Dining Services while managing one-two other campus farm workers. Estimates of harvested produce are around 5,000 pounds per year.Recruit volunteers for the campus farm and coordinate programming.Engage all campus sectors in broad, interdisciplinary conversation about sustainability and DePauw’s role in responding to the related challenges in the 21st centuryWork closely with DePauw’s Undergraduate Sustainability Interns and our Eco-RepsUpon request, work with faculty and/or students in sustainability-related classes; and make presentations in those classesCultivate student leadership by mentoring student organizations (e.g., the DePauw Environmental Club) and individual studentsWork with Facilities Management to improve tracking and analysis of utility use to develop behavior change campaigns and informed proposals for utility efficiency projectsCoordinate these year-round programs:o Eco-Reps o Sustainability Interns o Community bike-shareCoordinate these once-a-year projects:o Energy Wars o Earth Week o Move Out Days

Qualifications: | Must have a commitment to the values associated with a nationally respected, residential liberal arts universityMust be an individual who is highly engaged with sustainability issuesMust have exemplary interpersonal skills to communicate the urgent, challenging nature of sustainability to campus and community stakeholdersMust have 6-12 months of higher education sustainability experience; more experience is preferredBachelor’s degree required, preferably in an environmental or sustainability-related fieldMust be able to work individually and within a teamMust be willing to work after regular office hours, as neededMust be willing to travel occasionallyMust be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; and knowledge of DropBox, GoogleApps, Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop is a plusMust have or be able to obtain a valid IN driver's license
