Description: Growing Hope is looking for interns who are
interested in learning the skills needed to run a small urban farm. We
grow a diversity of vegetables, fruits, and herbs on our small (less
than 1 acre) urban demonstration farm in the city of Ypsilanti,
Michigan. Interns will learn about organic farming practices, complete
regular farm tasks, and learn the responsibilities required for
maintaining a farm business from our experienced farm managers. These
skills include weeding, bed prepping, compost production, vegetable
growing, harvesting/marketing techniques, and farm leadership. This is a
great opportunity for someone(s) looking to learn how to run a small,
diversified vegetable farm and market their produce in the area of
southeast Michigan (or beyond). An ideal candidate is someone who is
eager to learn, patient, and committed. Though we prefer interns who
would like to stay for the whole season, we will consider applicants who
are interested in a minimum of a one-month experience.
