> The Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity (SCALE) at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education seeks a post-doctoral fellow to work with Dr. Ray Pecheone and Dr. Susan Schultz. SCALE provides technical consulting and support to schools, districts, and states that have committed to adopting performance-based assessment as part of a multiple-measures system to evaluate student learning and measure school and teacher effectiveness. SCALE works with education agencies and practitioners to develop customized assessment materials, establish and oversee scoring procedures, provide professional development to support teachers and schools engaged in the work, and conduct research to support the validity and reliability of the assessment system.

> Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in science education or a comparable field of study and have K-12 science teaching experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to design curriculum-embedded science performance assessments aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Candidates also must have previous experience supporting teachers in the implementation of K-12 performance assessments. Preference will be given to candidates with previous research on scientific discourse or argumentation skills and/or previous experience designing K-12 computer-based science simulations.

> Additionally, candidates need strong content expertise and a solid understanding of NGSS Standards to review and annotate samples of student work to be used as standards (benchmarking or anchors) for scoring trainings. Candidates should have strong facilitation skills, the ability to conduct research related to scoring training sessions, and experience supporting data analysis and authoring technical reports based on both qualitative and quantitative studies.
