The Department of Marketing is currently inviting applications for a 100% (40 hours/week) Assistant Professor position, tenure track (post-doc, employee pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for university employees - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; annual gross salary: 48.766,20, individual extra remuneration is negotiable). This employee position will be limited to a period from May 1st, 2014 (commencement date subject to change) until April 30th, 2020.



Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Assistant Professor, tenure track, is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. For this position a qualification agreement can be considered after a period of two years, pursuant to § 27 to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten). After successful fulfillment of any qualification agreement made, employment can be made permanent. If the position is filled by a WU employee (who was previously an Assistant Professor, non-tenure track), the initial employment con-tract will be made for an indefinite period, which can be terminated after three years if any qualification agreement made has not been successfully fulfilled within a period of two years.



Required qualifications:

Applicants should have

- a solid academic qualification from a university outside of Austria

- finished their PhD or equivalent qualification

- a strong research focus, the capability of publishing in top-tier journal in marketing

- commitment to excellence in teaching on a bachelors' and masters' level

- commitment to serving the scientific community and taking part in academic self-governance activities

- strong research background in any of the core disciplines in marketing, such as, for example, International Marketing and Strategy, Consumer Behavior, Service Marketing, Modelling and Decision Making, Interactive Marketing, or Sales and Retailing.



Responsibilities:

The candidate should be committed to excellence in teaching both on a bachelors´ and mas-ters´ level. Teaching load will be eight hours a year (e.g. four courses with a minimum of 22.5 contact hours each). Depending on his or her background, the candidate may teach one of the following Electives in the Master in Marketing: International Marketing Management, Service Marketing, Advanced Topics in Marketing Management, Retail and Sales Management, or Advanced Topics in Marketing Communication. Furthermore, some of the new teaching capacities will be used as needed to satisfy the increasing demand for general or specialized marketing courses (e.g. internationally-oriented programs at WU such as CEMS or JOSZEF).
The candidate is specifically expected to get involved in research projects and shall fulfill his or her duties in research in cooperation with representatives of the relevant fields both in and outside the University.
