MSU Curious Gardener Class: Sprouts, Shoots, and Microgreens
Today (Tuesday) March 18th 6-8 pm
$15 for members, $20 for non-members

Do you have the late-winter blues? Come explore the world of sprouts, shoots, and microgreens with annual garden manager, Daedre Craig. These quick and easy crops can be grown indoors year-round. They take up very little space, can be grown and harvested in as little as a few days, and pack a nutritional punch. We will learn about and taste many types of sprouts and micro-crops, and explore recipe ideas. In addition, each curious gardener will build a seed sprouter and a microgreen farm to take home, grow, and harvest.

Changes in Old Town
If you haven’t noticed…Old Town Lansing is hopping these days! Promoting local art and food, along with hosting music festivals and other family-oriented activities, this area is prime for growth in all phases of their organic roots! As part of this movement, and with an interest in creating a community space for exercise, inspiration, and place to meet your neighbor, the R.O.O.T. Committee (Residents of Old Town) are revamping their Old Town Community Garden. The committee is seeking both garden leaders and families, groups or individuals interested in growing flowers and/or produce. For the small price of only $15 for the entire growing season, an 8X4 raised bed(s) can be “leased” if folks are willing to sign an agreement stating they will not use chemicals in the garden and will participate in site maintenance on a rotation basis. You do not have to be an Old Town resident to join. The location, which was previously known as “Turner St. Garden”, has proven to be an awesome site to produce healthy vegetables, fruit, and flowers of all varieties! For more information on Old Town Community Garden, contact Louise Gradwohl at 517-485-4283.

"From December to March, there are for many of us three gardens - the garden outdoors, the garden of pots and bowls in the house, and the garden of the mind's eye." - Katherine S. White
