Please send this important message to your members!
TAX SCAM ALERT: Beware of companies seeking to hire you to prepare income
tax returns! Many of these companies engage in a crime called tax preparer
fraud. A company is probably engaged in criminal activity if it offers you
money for preparing other people’s tax returns by yourself. Do not take a
chance working for these scam companies – *tax preparer fraud is a very
serious criminal offense!* Criminal arrests and/or convictions can also
lead to loss of your legal visa status in the US!
OISS will partner with the MSU College of Law Tax Clinic to offer FREE
seminars on how to properly prepare your own tax returns in February and
March 2014. Please look for an announcement in late January 2014 regarding
this convenient, free service.
