Free Webinar on Food Safety Rules:
Register Todayto Learn How to Submit Comments to the FDA About Proposed Regulations

A week from today, on Monday, October 28 at 6 p.m., theOhio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA)will offer a free webinar designed for specialty crop farmers and processors titled, “How to Submit Comments to the FDA About Proposed Food Safety Rules.”

Once fully implemented, the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) new proposed food safety rules will apply to about 80 percent of the nation’s food supply, impacting growers, processors, and food businesses across Ohio and the nation. Fortunately, these rules are not final! There's still time to make changes to these rules and reduce negative impacts to local, organic, and diversified operations— but we need your help!

During this webinar, OEFFA will guide participants through the process of submitting comments
to the FDA about how the proposed rules will affect specialty crop growers and food processors and what changes are needed in order to protect small-scale and sustainable farms and businesses. Comments to the FDA are due no later than November 15.

Click here to register for the October 28 webinar. For more information, contact MacKenzie Bailey at (614) 421-2022 Ext. 208 or [log in to unmask].

The webinar will be led by MacKenzie Bailey, OEFFA's Policy Program Coordinator. MacKenzie has organized successful grassroots advocacy and electoral campaigns and holds a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from the University at Buffalo.

This presentation follows a September OEFFA webinar given by Ariane Lotti of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, which explained the proposed rules and their potential impacts to sustainable farmers. It is recommended that participants watch this presentation prior to joining the October 28 webinar. To view this recorded webinar, click here.
