September 30, 2013 News IPF announces telecom rate changes for 2013-14 MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities will roll out its telecom rate changes for the 2013-14 billing year to its campus customer starting with the September ledger (the telecom bill dated Aug. 25, 2013). Many services will have a rate decrease, and any increases will be held to less than 3 percent. Rate decreases Rate decreases will apply for a majority of services, including: · Centrex student telephone lines o For example, a CTX-IBN-STUDENT bill for $18.10/month will decrease to $18/month due to a 3-percent increase minus savings in reduced local calling. · Avaya PBX telephone lines o For example, a PBX-ADMIN bill for $10.55/month will decrease to $10/month. o For example, a PBX-STUDENT bill for $12.55/month will decrease to $11/month. The student line decreases also include a component due to reduced local calling. o In addition, this service is also being simplified by including all repairs (time and parts) in the monthly rate, with these exceptions: § repairs due to negligence or events outside of normal wear (e.g. water damage); § after-hours repairs not usually perceived as major system events; and § repairs at locations off-campus. · Fiber-optic strand rates o Fiber-optic strand rates will decrease by one-quarter. o For example, a $20/strand/month bill will decrease to $15/strand/month. · Campus two-way radios o The price is decreasing from $20/month to $19.50/month. Rate increases Rate increases of less than 3 percent will apply for various services, including: · Centrex Administrative telephone lines o For example, a CTX-IBN-ADMIN bill for $22.40/month will increase to $23.05/month. · All TV rates o For example, a TV-ETV-Admin-Outlet rate of $46/month will increase to $47/month. · Radio lease (non-800 MHz) o The rate of $16/day will increase to $16.45/day. Rates unchanged Rates that will remain unchanged include: · Local calls = $.05/call · National long distance = $.05/minute · Various installation/move rates for Centrex lines |
