>> As a Board member of NSTA, the Division Director of Research participates in budget oversight, policy development, and the appointment of various NSTA positions, directs her/ his Division, and participates in various task forces or committees. The Division Director participates in the National NSTA conference, the Science Education Congress, the NARST Board meetings, regional NSTA meetings (as desired), and the NSTA board meetings There are two NSTA Board meetings a year: February at NSTA headquarters (held in Washington DC), and in the summer during the Science Education Congress (location varies). The Board meetings are two to three days long - depending upon the needs of NSTA. There are two NARST Board meetings to attend. One is held during the international conference in March/April, and the other is held in October.
>>

Within NARST, the Division Director works closely with several NARST committees. The NSTA Division Director and her committee have worked with the NARST Research Committee to identify articles for teachers to read that have been published in JRST. The NSTA Research Division communicates with the NARST community about upcoming events.
>>
>> If you have questions about the position, please contact Kate Scantlebury, (current NSTA Research Director) at [log in to unmask] or Deborah Hanuscin, NARST’s liaison to NSTA ([log in to unmask])

>> NSTA Directors begin on June 1, 2014 and each new Director has a mentor and receives guidance from the Director s/he replaces. (Note that the NSTA Research Director attends the NARST board meeting at the end of the annual conference, which is before the ‘official’ start date of June 1, 2014).
