The Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Global Strategy at the Assistant Professor level.

 

Available Positions: Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professorships in Global Strategy

 

Candidates should have a doctorate degree or be in their final year of dissertation research (ABD candidates are welcome to apply). We are looking for candidates with the potential to build a record of excellence in both research and teaching, and whose work is profoundly at the core of the field of Global Strategy. In particular, we aim to build academic knowledge and expertise in the following key areas: international entry and expansion strategies of multinational companies, the impact of institutional change on global business, comparative management, head office-subsidiary relationships, emerging markets and emerging market multinationals, and the contextual influences on the formulation and implementation of strategies around the world.

The department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship consists of the following tenured and tenure-track faculty:

Associate Professors - Marc Baaij, Luca Berchicci, Hans Bruining, Wim Hulsink, Albert Jolink, Jeroen de Jong, Orietta Marsili, René Olie, Ilan Oshri, Patrick Reinmoeller, Jatinder Sidhu, Arjen Slangen, and Frank Wijen;

Assistant Professors - Shazhad Ansari, Thomas Blekman, Katrin Burmeister, Magdalena Cholakova, Yang Fan, Ferdinand Jaspers, Nikos Kavadis, Tom Mom, Anna Nadolska, Jurriaan Nijholt, Marten Stienstra, Michiel Tempelaar, Ingrid Verheul, Vareska van der Vrande, and Raymond van Wijk.

 

The department ranks amongst the top departments in Europe in terms of its research productivity and impact. Faculty have recently published in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Management Science, Organization Science, and Organization Studies. The department offers its own pre-experience master programs in strategic management and in entrepreneurship and new business venturing, as well as post-experience executive programs in strategic management and in management consulting. In addition, the department contributes to the RSM's undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA programs, and to the MPhil and PhD programs of Erasmus University. The departmental faculty is on average demographically young, and is increasingly involved in academic leadership roles in both North American and European scholarly associations like the AOM, EGOS, EURAM, SMS, and SAMS.

 

About Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands and has Europe’s biggest port. It is vibrantly international, accommodating some 600,000 people (1.2 million in the greater metropolitan area) from 160 different countries. Its landscape is modern, with high rising towers and creative architecture. In addition to being an important business and logistics hub, the city also has an extensive cultural, restaurant, and entertainment scene. Rotterdam is the gateway to Europe, as Paris, London, Brussels, Berlin, and many other great destinations can all be reached in a few hours. The capital city of Amsterdam is less than an hour away by train or car.
