UP TO FIVE PROFESSORS/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITIONS IN MARKETING, STRATEGY AND SUPPLY CHAIN - ALL WITH INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS FOCUS -  UNIVERSITY OF AGDER, NORWAY

Due to the introduction of new study programs, consistent growth in student applications and increased funding, the University of Agder is in the attractive position of seeking new permanent faculty members to the Business School. We thus invite applications for up to five full-time permanent positions as Professor/Associate Professor in the areas of marketing, strategy and supply chain management at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Department of Economics and Business Administration, located in Kristiansand, Norway.

The Business School is responsible for bachelor's, master's and PhD programs in business administration - with a large number of students specializing in marketing and strategy issues, particularly, related to international marketing and strategy.

In order to qualify for these positions, the ideal candidates should have a PhD in business administration with a specialization in the areas specified below. Candidates with a strong background in international relations and political risk, particular in emerging markets, may be taken into consideration. He/she should have a significant publication record in the area of specialization, with emphasis on a strong research pipeline.

Candidates that are in the process of completing a relevant PhD can be offered an interim appointment under Section 6-5 (1) of the Act Relating to Universities and Colleges if the applicant concerned would be able to acquire the necessary qualifications during the period of employment. The period of employment will be stipulated by the appointing authority, and may not exceed three years. Applicants are asked to state in their applications whether they also wish to apply for an interim appointment.

The Business School seeks applicants who will participate in developing high quality research teams, strengthen interaction with business, attract external research funding, and take part in developing executive education.The teaching requirements for the position is that the candidate should be responsible for a variety of courses that the Business School currently offers in the areas of marketing, strategy, supply chain management and related subjects.

A comprehensive assessment of the applicant's scientific qualifications forms the basis for appointment. Emphasis will also be given to the applicants' teaching qualifications, teamwork skills and personal suitability for the position. Applicants who lack formal teaching qualifications, or extensive teaching experience, will be required to obtain such qualifications, or complete UiA's Foundation Course in Education for University Lectures within a period of two years.

In the ranking of eligible applicants, emphasis will be given to the suitability of each applicant's field of specialization in relation to meeting the needs of the department and complementing the academic staff. Relevant specializations for these positions are specified according to the respective areas:
-          Marketing,international marketing, consumer behavior, branding, e-marketing
-          Strategy,international strategy,change and knowledge management, open innovation, emerging market, global business context and political risk, corporate social responsibility
-          Supply chain management,logistics management, project management, industrial buying behavior

Candidates should have a substantial knowledge and understanding of international management theories and research methods. In particular, candidates should be familiar with theoretical and methodological intricacies and challenges of international and cross-cultural research. Short-listed applicants will be invited for interviews and a demonstration of their teaching competency, usually in the form of a trial lecture.

The successful applicant will have rights and obligations in accordance with the current regulations for the Civil Service. Organisational changes and changes in the duties and responsibilities of the position must be expected.

The position is remunerated within the State salary scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1013 Professor, salary grades 68-81 (NOK 572.400-NOK 778.200), code 1011 Associate Professor, salary grades 57-72 (NOK 468.100-NOK 620.200). In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2 % compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions. It is a requirement that the candidate is capable of teaching proficiently in English. It is a plus if the candidate masters a Scandinavian language. The University of Agder offers Norwegian language courses to international employees with little or no knowledge of Norwegian and facilitates participation in such courses. Permanently employed staff is expected to acquire good command of oral and written Norwegian within a period of two years.

  *   An outline of courses taught, with teaching evaluations for the most recent courses
